NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday assured senior counsel Ram Jethmalani, arguing for the prime accused Siddharth Vashishtha alias Manu Sharma in the Jessica Lal murder case, that it would decide the appeal against the acquittal of all nine accused, including Manu Sharma, in the case by the trial court on the basis of the facts of the case. A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice R.S. Sodhi and Justice P.K. Bhasin gave this assurance to Mr. Jethmalani when the latter talked about "media trial" of the case and urged the Bench not to take note of it. "We assure you that we will decide the appeal on the basis of the facts brought on record without being influenced by any extraneous influences," the Bench assured Mr. Jethmalani. Mr. Jethmalani began his argument on the appeal with a reference to media reports about the case.
