HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party has dashed off its second open letter to CPI (M) Secretary B.V. Raghavulu on Wednesday explaining in detail how the Andhra Pradesh Government's relief and rehabilitation package for the land oustees was far better than the one being implemented in Left-ruled West Bengal. The eight-page letter signed by Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Government Whips -- S. Udaya Bhanu and D. Sridhar Babu -- referred extensively to a GO issued by the West Bengal Government in July this year detailing the R&R package for the land oustees. The Congress leaders pointed out that the R&R package said that a sum not exceeding Rs. 25,000 would be paid as compensation to the displaced people if their houses were acquired for projects. The WB Government would allot only two cents of land for acquiring existing house and make arrangements for construction of houses under the Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana. For those in the rural areas, houses would be constructed under the Indira Awas Yojana. The R&R package would be paid by those who acquire the lands, the GO said according to the letter sent to Mr. Raghavulu on Wednesday. The CLP on the other hand reminded Mr. Raghavulu that the package implemented in the State was much better and beneficial to the displaced people.
