Manmohan spares Left

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urged Congressmen not to allow divisive forces to gain an upper hand.

Addressing a special convention of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee here on Wednesday, Dr. Singh, however, did not respond to the tone set by Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala, (who said in his presidential address that the Congress party in the State considered the Left coalition its main political adversary) and Union Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi (who cautioned the Prime Minister about the habit of the Left to blame the Centre for its own lapses). The Prime Minister urged the Congressmen in the State not to be disheartened by the recent defeat in the Assembly election. The Lok Sabha elections would be due in two and a half years and the time had come to prepare the ground for this.
