Music, dance festival in Madikeri

Madikeri: A two-day music and dance festival will be held at the Cauvery Kalakshetra here on November 4 and 5, Roopa Sri Krishna Upadhya of Nritya Mantapa Trust said here on Tuesday.

The event would mark the completion of the trust's first year in service, she said.

Dance and music were being taught students from all over Kodagu at the Nritya Mantapa school.

Students came at weekends from places such as Mangalore, Mysore and stayed as boarders. They were being taught in a systematic and established way, said Ms. Upadhya who is a dancer herself.

`Raga Lahari' and `Nrityanjali' will be performed later. The valedictory will be presided over by R.T. Rama from Bangalore at 6 p.m. on November 5.

Artists of the Nritya Mantapa will give performances.
