Remove stains to make a change

Staff Reporter

Ramya Krishnan

CHENNAI: Hindustan Lever Limited has launched a campaign to help underprivileged children.

Under the campaign, a special piece of stained cloth is attached to every pack of Surf Excel powder, which on washing reveals a score between 1/10 and 10/10.

Consumers can SMS their score to 455.

The score will determine the money that HLL would donate to Udhavum Karangal, a voluntary organisation involved in educating underprivileged children.

Actor Ramya Krishnan kicked off the campaign by scratching a stained cloth and sending the first SMS in the city on Tuesday. The campaign would be launched in other cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore, said Sudhanshu Vats, Category Head, Home Care, HLL.

Mr. Vats said, "Through this campaign we are trying to establish the fact that by washing one stain you can brighten the lives of many of the underserved children in Chennai.

This is an opportunity for all to do good, hence [we] would like to appeal to the citizens to support us in this cause," he said.
