Painting contest

CHENNAI: The Malayalee Club in Chennai is organising a painting contest for children in the city and its suburbs on November 11 on its premises at Srinivasa Nagar, Chetpet between 9.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Children above III standard may apply. For details, contact 2836 0733.

Blood donation

A blood donation camp was conducted by the Blood Bank of Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch, on Friday at Madras School of Social Work. The camp was coordinated by Lalitha, NSS programme officer,

of the MSSW.

Permanent courts

Tiruvallur district will have separate sessions and chief judicial magistrate courts "on permanent basis" from November 3. The Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, Justice A.P. Shah, accompanied by his senior colleagues, Justice P.D. Dinakaran and Justice K. Raviraja Pandian, is scheduled to participate in the inaugural function along with Law Minister I. Periyasamy on November 3. S. Nagarajan, chairman of the Taxation Appeals Tribunal, Corporation of Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Principal District Judge of the newly sanctioned Tiruvallur district and sessions court. S. Chandran, Chief Judicial Magistrate-II at Krishnagiri, has been posted as the new Chief Judicial Magistrate in Tiruvallur.

Yogic treatment

Yoga Therapy and Research Centre, a unit of Bihar School of Yoga, is organising a course in yogic treatment for asthma and diabetes from November 6 to 30 at Besant Nagar between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. and at Choolai between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Contact 2669 2021 or 94443 68448.

Award for doctor

The Rotary Club of Madras Midtown recently presented the `For the Sake of Honour' award to R. Surendran of Government Stanley Medical College Hospital. Young Achievers Award were given away

to Vidya Kalyanaraman in music and S.V. Arun Thaneermalai in aquatic sports.

Education seminar

AARGEE Centre for Overseas education, the Indian associate of Indus Foundation, USA, is organising an US/Canada higher education seminar on November 16 at 9 a.m. at GRT Grand Business Hotel, T.
