Crafts mela

Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation will conduct a 10-day Poompuhar crafts mela in the city from November 3. District Collector Navin Mittal will inaugurate the fair Madhu Kala Mandapam in Moghalrajapuram.

Hooda's visit

Haryana Chief Minister Bhoopender Singh Hooda will unveil the statues of trade union leaders Rampilla Syed Appala Swamy and Rampilla Suryanarayana in the city on November 4. Mr. Hooda will also participate in the 13th All India Freedom Fighters Conference and the 4th All India Freedom Fighters Successors Conference to be held on the same day at SAS College near Milk Project, a press release said.

Minister's call

Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao on Wednesday called upon people to take active part in the development works launched by the State Government. Addressing the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day celebrations on City Armed Reserve grounds here, Mr. Rao felt programmes like Indiramma and Jala Yajnam would be of great use to the poor and peasantry. District Collector Navin Mittal and Joint Collector S. Suresh Kumar were present.

Tributes paid

President of the Krishna District Arya Vysya Sangham and general secretary of the city Congress committee Darisi Srinivasu on Wednesday paid tributes to Potti Sriramulu. He garlanded the statue of Sriramulu on Prakasam Barrage. Corporator Buddha Jagannatham was present.

Inspectors take charge

Three inspectors took charge in the city police commissionerate on Wednesday. They were: S. Manohar (Krishnalanka), N. Kishore Babu (central circle) and Y.V. Ramana (one traffic station). Deputy Superintendent of Police U.V.S. Raju congratulated the inspectors.

Four bars sealed

VMC officials on Wednesday sealed four bars and restaurants in the city, which were not following the norms. A team headed by in-charge chief medical officer K. Karuna Murthy conducted raids at Patamata, Moghalrajapuram, Visaalandhra road and Winchipet areas.
