DCC submits memorandum to Prime Minister

Security clearance for Vizhinjam port, High Court Bench included

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram District Congress Committee has in a memorandum requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to grant security clearance for setting up an International Trans-shipment Terminal at Vizhinjam.

The memorandum also urged Dr. Manmohan Singh to bestow his `personal and gracious attention' to the issue of establishing a bench of the Kerala High Court in Thiruvananthapuram. It requested him to direct the Union Law Ministry to take up the matter with the High Court.

The memorandum also called for sanctioning a new railway zone for Kerala with Thiruvananthapuram as the headquarters and for sanctioning two more Kendriya Vidyalayas in the city.

The DCC in its memorandum has thanked the Prime Minister for the Centre's initiative in the expansion of the city's international airport. and in including the capital city in the JNUNRM.
