NEW DELHI: In what appears to be yet another case of road-rage, the driver of a Ford Ikon car that was hit by a Maruti Baleno from behind allegedly smashed the windscreen of the other vehicle at R.K. Puram here on Wednesday. A hunt has been launched for the accused. According to the police, the accident happened in the afternoon when the allegedly rashly driven Baleno banged into the Ikon from the rear in Sector VIII R.K. Puram. An argument ensued between the drivers, following which the Ikon's driver allegedly took out a sword and smashed the windscreen of the other vehicle. Before the police could arrive, the accused vanished from the scene. By then, a woman who was travelling in the Baleno had also left. Later, the owner of the Baleno, who is a lawyer and lives at Hauz Khas, turned up at the R.K. Puram police station and insisted that a case be registered on the basis of the sequence of events as narrated by him. However, the police said they would register a case on the basis of the statement of either his driver Sanjay or the woman who was travelling in the car. Finally, the police registered a case after recording Sanjay's statement. "We have launched a hunt for the driver of the Baleno car that bore a Haryana registration number," said DCP (South-West Delhi) Ravinder Singh Yadav.
