HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said it was time the State got its act together and shifted gears on the road to becoming a model for others. Addressing the party cadre to mark the 50th Andhra Pradesh Formation Day at the party office, he emphasised the need for integrated development of the State, with focus on backward areas. Earlier, he garlanded the statue of Telugu Talli near Secretariat.
Pride of place
Mr. Naidu stated that TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao had given Telugu people the pride of place they deserved. It was important for them to feel proud of the language, the rich culture and tradition. Telugus should walk with their heads held high in pride, he said, calling upon the cadre to re-dedicate themselves in serving the people, specially the downtrodden. Earlier, three representatives from each of the three regions addressed the gathering -- K. Vidyadhar Rao (coastal Andhra), B. Sobha Nagi Reddy (Rayalaseema) and T. Devender Goud (Telangana). Mr. Rao regretted that even after 38 years of Congress rule, it could not ensure solutions to basic problems faced by people in the State and elsewhere in the country, citing the example of supply of safe drinking water.
