TIRUCHI: Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) arrested S.P. Selvaraj (57), the Inspector of Siruganur police station, on Wednesday on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by one Srinivasan of Piragambi village in Mannachanallur taluk to the DVAC, Tiruchi unit, stating that the Inspector had demanded Rs.6,000 as bribe from him for not taking action on a petition lodged against him by a person of the same village. Acting on the complaint, the DVAC registered a case and laid a trap.DVAC sources here said that a team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rama. Ambikapathy, caught the Inspector red handed in the police station itself while he was accepting the bribe amount from Srinivasan. The sleuths seized Rs.6,000 from the Inspector and later conducted a search in the latter's houses at Siruganur and in Tiruchi.
