Security lapse: Karunakaran for impartial probe

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Former Kerala Chief Minister K. Karunakaran on Thursday demanded an impartial probe, preferably a judicial inquiry or by the Chief Secretary, into the security lapse during the Prime Minister's visit. Mr. Karunakaran also blamed Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan for the lapse as he should have been present in the State during VVIP visits.

Mr. Karunakaran said the entire blame should be put on the Additional Director-General of Police . The Government had entrusted him with the inquiry directing him to submit his report within 24 hours. The issue would not go away if the attempt was to brush everything under the carpet after getting the ADGP's report, he said.
