HYDERABAD : The Ranga Reddy BJP unit has said that the district has been given a raw deal in the delimitation of graduate constituencies for Legislative Council. While in earlier times, Hyderabad along with Ranga Reddy had two MLC seats, now Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar districts with eight lakh graduate votes have only one seat, said Ranga Reddy district BJP president S.Malla Reddy here on Thursday. Addressing media persons along with general secretary T.Anjan Kumar, Mr.Malla Reddy said that several irregularities crept into the creation of graduate constituencies for the Legislative Council. On one hand, while the reorganisation of Parliament and Assembly constituencies was being carried out with a difference of 10 per cent, in case of Legislative Council constituencies, the difference was up to 200 per cent. Proving his point, he said while Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam constituencies have 2.98 graduates, East and West Godavari, 2.76 lakh graduates, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur, 2.95 lakhs, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, 3.21 lakhs, Krishna, Guntur-3.52 lakhs, etc., how could allotment of one graduate constituency be justified is the question.
