SBT hikes interest rates

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has announced a sharp increase in the interest rates for FCNR and NRE term deposits with effect from Thursday. As per the revision, the interest rates will be 6.34 per cent per annum for term deposits for a period of one year to less than two years, 6.17 per cent for two years to less than three years and 6.11 per cent for three years and above to five years. The interest rates for FCNR deposits in dollars will be 5.34 per cent for a period of one year to less than two years, 5.17 per cent for two years to less than three years, 5.11 per cent for three years to less than five years and 5.12 per cent for five years. For deposits in pound sterling, the rates will be 5.44 per cent for a period of one year to less than two years, 5.37 per cent for two years to less than three years, 5.33 per cent for three years to less than four years, 5.27 per cent for four years to less than five years and 5.22 per cent for five years.
