Paradip port sets record

PARADIP: Paradip Port Trust (PPT) has set a new record in handling cargo during the first half of 2006-07.

A port spokesman said the total traffic handled during the first half was 17.6 million tonnes as against 16.11 million tonnes during the corresponding period last year. The cargo handled during the first half was 9.71 per cent higher than the previous year during the same period.

The PPT mainly handled 11.49 million tonnes of export cargo and 6.1 million tonnes of import cargo.
