DHARWAD: Teachers of various schools in the district will take out a motorcycle rally in the district on November 11 to create awareness about the "Dharwad Zilla Utsav" being held after a gap of seven years. This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner M.S. Srikar here on Wednesday during a meeting of the committee on procession and "yuva samskruti" programmes to be held as part of the utsav. The utsav will be held from November 17. Mr. Srikar said the procession that would be held on the inaugural day of the utsav would comprise 30 tableaux. More than 30 folk troupes from Dharwad and other districts would participate in the procession, he said. "Yuva Samskruti" programmes would be held with the objective of providing a forum for young talent. Competitions would be held at Indira Glass House in Hubli and at R.N. Shetty stadium in Dharwad. Chairman of the procession committee Mohan Nagammanavar spoke. S.B. Itagi and Jagadish Malagi gave the itinerary of programmes in Hubli and Dharwad respectively. Joint Director of Pre-University Education Laxminarayan; Deputy Director of Pre-University Education Dhanasiri; Headquarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner C.M. Noormansur; Senior Assistant Director of Information Department P.S. Hiremath; and Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department K.H. Channur were present.
