HUBLI: A project proposal for Rs. 1 crore for developing Nrupatunga Hill in Hubli into a tourist spot has been submitted to the State Tourism Department, Revenue and District-in-charge Minister Jagadish Shettar has said. He was speaking after conferring "Single Star" awards to employees and officers of the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation in recognition of their citizen-friendly service, here on Wednesday evening. The Minister reiterated his commitment to the development of Hubli-Dharwad. He said if Government employees and officials were professional, benefits of government schemes would reach the genuine beneficiaries quickly. Mr. Shettar lauded the corporation for initiating such a novel method to identify good workers, which he said, would go a long way in motivating the employees. The Minister then listed out various programmes that the coalition Government had initiated for the benefit of the general public. MP from Dharwad North Pralhad Joshi underscored the need for remembering the contributions of those who fought for the unification of the State. He said the State Government should give emphasis to the development of backward regions of the State.
Felicitated
As many as 28 HDMC employees and officers were awarded the "Single Star" and felicitated. Deputy Commissioner and HDMC Administrator M.S. Srikar was present. HDMC Commissioner P. Manivannan proposed a vote of thanks.
