GOPALRAOPET (KARIMNAGAR DT.): The BJP formally launched its campaign for the byelection to the Karimnagar parliamentary constituency from the remote Gopalraopet village of Ramadugu mandal with much pomp and gaiety amid drumbeats on Thursday. Party spokesperson and State incharge Prakash Javadekar, secretary Bandaru Dattatreya, State president, N. Indrasena Reddy, candidate Ch Vidyasagar Rao, legislator G. Kishan Reddy, leaders G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Baddam Bal Reddy and P. Sugunakar Rao participated in the programme. Incidentally, Mr. Vidyasagar Rao, who launched his campaign from this village in 1998 elections, has done it again on a sentimental issue.
Development works
The BJP leaders went round the village and assembled at the market yard ground to participate in a public meeting. Womenfolk and youth turned out in large numbers. A cultural troupe sang songs on the development works taken up by Mr. Vidyasagar Rao. All the leaders' speeches focused on the achievement of Telangana statehood with the BJP at the Centre. They reiterated about the party's commitment for the formation of smaller states. They also launched a scathing attack on the Congress and TRS leaders for bringing about a byelection in Karimnagar. Earlier, some villagers and local bodies representatives joined the BJP in the presence of Mr. Javadekar. Mr Vidyasagar Rao participated in a padayatra later. .
