HYDERABAD: The stage is all set for the commencement of Bancon-2006, the premier annual banking event, here on Friday. Being organised for the first time in the State at the sprawling Hyderabad International Convention Centre, the mega event will feature participation of policymakers, heads of banking industry from both Government and private sector, besides delegates from abroad, including a team from the World Bank. Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will inaugurate the conference which has the theme `Inclusive growth - a new challenge.' Stalwarts in the banking sector, including C. Rangarajan, Chairman of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, will deliver special lectures. Reserve Bank of India Governor Y.V. Reddy will be chief guest at the valedictory of the event jointly hosted by Andhra Bank and the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) on Saturday. Andhra Bank Chairman K. Ramakrishnan and IBA chief executive H.N. Sinor told reporters here on Thursday that panels had been constituted to discuss various issues facing the industry. Topics are: role of banks, scope for regulation and supervision, role of corporates, etc.
