Coimbatore: Southern Railway has announced introduction of a tri-weekly express train service between Chennai Central and Mangalore and a weekly service between Chennai and Coimbatore from November 4. A release from Southern Railway said Train Number 2685 would leave Chennai Central at 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and arrive Mangalore at 7.40 a.m. the next day and Train Number 2686 would depart Mangalore on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 4 p.m. and arrive Chennai at 8 a.m. the next day. It would stop at Chennai Central, Katpadi, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Podanur, Palakkad, Shoranur, Tirur, Calicut, Badagara, Tellicherry, Cannanore, Kanhangad and Kasargod. The regular services from Mangalore would be from November 5. Weekly express Train Number 2681/2682 Chennai Central - Coimbatore - Chennai Central would be flagged off from Chennai on November 4 and regular services would commence from Coimbatore on November 10. Train number 2681 would depart Chennai Central on Saturdays at 10.20 p.m. and reach Coimbatore at 7.15 a.m. and would stop at Perambur, Arakkonam, Katpadi, Salem, Erode, Tirupur and Coimbatore. Train number 2682 would leave Coimbatore on Fridays at 10.30 p.m. and would arrive Chennai Central at 8 a.m.
Change in schedule
In view of the rebuilding and strengthening of bridges on the Erode - Podanur sections to be taken up on November 4, 5, 11 and 12, there would be a line block resulting in delayed operation, suspension and cancellation of trains. In view of the line block from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. on November 4, Alleppey - Bokaro/Dhandbad/Tatanagar Express (Train number 3352), Coimbatore - Chennai Kovai Express (Train number 2676), Coimbatore - Bangalore Intercity Express (Train number 2678), Patna - Ernakulam Express (Train Number 6310), Tiruchirapalli - Mangalore Link Express (Train number 6867), Bokaro/Dhanbad/Tatanagar - Alleppey Express (Train number 3351) would be delayed en route. Similarly, because of the line block from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on November 5, the Tiruchirapalli - Palghat Town Passenger (Train Number 887) would be delayed en route. On November 11 because of the line block from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., Alleppey - Bokaro/Dhanbad/Tatanagar Express (Train number 3352), Coimbatore - Chennai Kovai Express (Train Number 2676), Coimbatore - Bangalore Intercity Express (Train Number 2678), Thiruvananthapuram - Mumbai Express (Train number 6332) would be delayed en route. On November 12, Tiruchirapallai - Palakkad Town Passenger (Train number 887) would be delayed en route following line block from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Train number 7229/7230 Kochuveli - Hyderabad - Kochuveli Sabari Express would stop at Morappur on an experimental basis for six months. Towards Hyderabad it would stop at Morappur at 10.10 p.m. and in the return direction towards Tiruvananthapuram it would stop at 4.40 a.m. Similarly, train number 763/764 Palakkad - Madurai - Palakkad passenger train would stop at Mudalamada on an experimental basis for three months. Towards Madurai it would stop at Muthalamada at 11.50 p.m. and at 2.45 a.m. while going towards Palakkad
