Congress workers stage protest in Kadapa

Staff Reporter

Road blockades staged on NH

KADAPA: Congress functionaries staged road blockade protests at three places on national highways in Kadapa on Thursday, demanding takeover of Government and DKT lands allegedly encroached upon by all-party members.

The protests led by Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy left traffic stranded at ITI circle, Vinayaknagar and Chinna Chowk.

Rajya Sabha Member C. Ramachandraiah, TDP politburo member K. Sivananda Reddy, district vice-president M. Venkataswamy and CPI and CPI(M) functionaries encroached upon Government and DKT lands during TDP rule, the Mayor alleged.

A Congress delegation complained to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Kadapa Collector M.T. Krishna Babu against land-grabbing by Opposition members and furnished details with survey numbers, land extent and persons under whose possession they were, Mr. Ravindranath Reddy said.

He charged Mr. Sivananda Reddy of occupying 472.86 acres of land in Kadapa and Chintakommadinne mandals.
