Diwakar Reddy seeks people's participation for good governance

ANANTAPUR: Minister for Panchayat Raj and Endowments J.C. Diwakar Reddy has assured the farming community of the district that the State Government is ready to lend a helping hand to rescue them out of the precarious situation resulting out of drought conditions.

Speaking after hoisting the national flag as part of the State Formation Day celebrations here on Wednesday he said good governance was possible only with the people's participation and the State Government had succeeded in it to a large extent.

Real tribute to Amarajeevi Potti Sreeramulu, who had sacrificed his life for the separate statehood to Telugu speaking people 50 years back, would be to help the State pace up on the path of progress. The Congress Government had been acting as per the wishes of the people and taken several path-breaking decisions for welfare and development of people, he said.

He explained that 1,21,382 families had been helped to get wage employment under NREGS in the district by providing 13,556 works.

Works pertaining to the two massive drinking water projects taken up with an estimated cost of Rs. 335 crores were in progress. Once completed, the projects would quench the thirst of 1,313 habitations by providing safe drinking water.
