Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Water Resources N.K. Premachandran said at a meeting on Thursday that the Government would make the illegal drawing of drinking water and its use in violation of rules a punishable offence. The meeting was held to discuss the steps for strengthening the water supply network and reforms in the sector in the coming year.

He deputed officers for preparing a draft bill for amending the law for checking unauthorised water connections and taking legal action against water theft. The meeting constituted a committee for reviewing the progress of the work on large-scale water supply projects.
