Madhu Chandra beats H.E. Anand

BANGALORE: Madhu Chandra quelled a strong challenge from H.E. Anand to beat him 79-46, 26-43, 33-50, 66-9, 59-26, 48-29 in the State-senior ranking snooker championship at the KSBA McDowell here on Thursday.

KSP beats BEL

Karantaka State Police picked up full points beating BEL Sports Club at 25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 25-15 in 72 minutes in the State `A' division volleyball league championship at Sree Kanteerava Stadium couts here on Thursday. Hemanth and Sanoj put up a fine display for the KSP while Pradeep and Balaji impressed for BEL.

Stany, Shristi triumph

State junior G.A. Stany of Shimoga claimed the title in boys under-17 section of the State-level inter-school chess championship conducted by the Department of Public Instruction (South) here from October 29 to 31.

Stany topped the field with eight points and in the girls under-17 section, Shristi J. Shetty, also of Shimoga won the title with seven points. The winners in under-14 section were C.N. Niranjan of Belgaum (boys) and M.R. Deeksha of Mysore (girls).
