State approves Munneru bridge

KHAMMAM: A bridge will be constructed soon on Munneru river near Prakashnagar in Khammam town.

The Government has given clearance for construction of the bridge with private participation at a cost of Rs 4.5 crores.

Khammam Market Committee Chairman Ch. Lalaiah told reporters on Thursday that the bridge, which would come up on Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis, would create a shortcut route to the Khammam market yard for farmers from Nelakondapali, Mudigonda and various other mandals. It would help cut down the distance by 9 km.

The route remained cut off whenever the river was in spate. Farmers from many villages had demanding construction of the bridge.
