KARIMNAGAR: Officials spokesman and State in charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Prakash Jawedkar has said that his party will include formation of Telangana state in the election manifesto. Reiterating the party's commitment for separate statehood, he said: "We will include the Telangana statehood issue in the election manifesto and not go back on our poll promise. We will ally with parties that are in favour of formation of Telangana state.'' Mr. Jawadekar, who was here on Thursday to launch the party's campaign for the by-election to the Karimnagar parliament constituency, told newsmen that the BJP had formed three new states as promised during the 1999 elections. He said that all BJP and the NDA allies MPs were for the formation of Telangana state. Alleging that the Congress and the TRS had deceived people of Telangana region after being elected on the statehood issue, he asked the Congress party to prove its sincerity on Telangana issue by passing a resolution at the national level. He said that they were contesting the by-election on their commitment to Telangana and exuded confidence that the party would win with a thumping majority.
Congress blamed
Accusing the Congress Government at the Centre and State responsible for the plight of farmers in the country, he said that the farmers' suicides were on the high in Vidharbha and Andhra Pradesh. The sensex had crossed 13,000 mark and on the other hand the farmers suicides had crossed 13,000 in the country during the two-half-year UPA regime, he alleged. He said that the farmers' suicides had reached over 400 in Vidharbha region after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had announced special package. He asked the Government to provide minimum support price to the farmers produce to stop suicides.
Terrorism
He alleged that the UPA Government had gained dubious distinction with high incidence of killings by terrorists, suicides by farmers and deceiving of voters with false election promises. He said the UPA Government had repealed the POTA and was encouraging the terrorism in the country. He also said that his party would organise rallies all over the country including Hyderabad from November 15 to 22 condemning the terrorists activities. The party leaders -- Bandaru Dattatreya, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, G. Kisan Reddy, Baddam Bal Reddy, P Sugunakar Rao, G. Ramakrishna Reddy -- and others were present.
