Award for DD staffer

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Doordarshan's Emani Krishna Rao's `Making of a Naval Officer' has bagged the best documentary award in the Doordarshan National Awards 2006.

Mr. Rao, a special correspondent with the national television channel, had shot the 52-minute documentary in various establishments to telecast it on December 4, 2005 during the Navy Day celebrations. This is the third award for Mr. Rao in two years.

He had earlier won the 2006 World Bank-Commonwealth Broadcasting Association award for the documentary `From Fallows to Food Baskets' based on food security and the 2005 DD National award for the best news feature, `Operation Rainbow', which captured on film the tsunami relief efforts of the Indian Navy in Sri Lanka.
