Accidental fire in car

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : An accidental fire in a Hyundai Santro car parked on the ground floor of a residential complex in Villivakkam destroyed the engine and right wheel of the car in the early hours of Thursday.

The cause of the fire has not been pinpointed, but preliminary investigations suggested there might have been a electrical short-circuit which led to the fire.

According to fire and rescue service officials, a leak from the cigar light charger inside the vehicle could have led to the fire, which was put out in 30 minutes. Hyundai officials inspected the car and have taken it for further investigation.
