Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Alandur area: GST Road, Guindy railway station, Adambakkam and Maduvankarai; Virugambakkam area: Valswaravakkam, Radhakrishnan Salai, Palaniappa Nagar and in Padi area: Balaji Nagar, Subbulakshmi Nagar, Korattur, Periyar Nagar, Kumaran Nagar, Padi Easwaran Koil, MTH Road up to Brittania between 9 a.m and 5 p.m on Saturday.

Airport travellers cautioned

Persons travelling to the airport on November 3 and 4 have been requested to start early, as traffic diversions may be made during the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the city on these days.

Speech therapy camp

Aero-modelling

Anna Nagar-based Hobby Club (Ph: 9283198818, 43538226) offers an aero-modelling course about how aeroplanes, helicopters and hovercrafts fly. Practical training to build aeroplane glider models is provided. Anyone above 10 years may join.

Blood donation

A blood donation camp was recently conducted by the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch, at Balaji College of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre in Pallikaranai.

NCC cadets gesture

The NCC Directorate of Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar, in a release said that 1,160 cadets would donate blood as part of a special drive till November 6.

Medical results

The results of the III year BDS, BHMS and VIII semester BPT degree course examinations held in August 2006 by MGR Medical University are available at tnmmu.ac.in.

Blankets donated

Rotary Club of Royapettah recently donated 30 blankets to the Home for Handicapped Children, Guild of Service.

Child born on train

A woman delivered a baby boy in an electric multiple unit train (Tambaram to Beach) near Kodambakkam station on Thursday afternoon. According to railway officials, the woman Kaveri of Trisoolam was pregnant and she was advised by doctors at Chromepet to proceed to the Institute of Child Health, Egmore for the delivery.

But she went into labour during the travel

around 4 p.m.

After childbirth, she was assisted by railway doctors then was admitted to the ICH.
