Helmets: fine from Nov. 6 in Bangalore
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
The city traffic police will impose fine on two-wheeler riders not found wearing helmets, from November 6.
A senior traffic police official told The Hindu on Thursday that although the new rule making wearing of helmets mandatory for two-wheeler riders had come into force from November 1, the traffic police were yet to get tough with violators as they wanted to sensitise the public to the new rule.
From November 6, any two-wheeler rider not wearing a helmet would be fined Rs. 100. A fine of Rs. 300 would be imposed for every subsequent violation.
Licence cancellation
Repeated violation of the rule would result in cancellation of the driving licence, the official said.
As the people were in a dilemma over implementation of the rule, which had been deferred thrice earlier, the traffic police were giving them some time before strictly enforcing it, the official said.
