BANGALORE: Two men, who were travelling by an autorickshaw, kidnapped an employee of a private transport company and robbed him of Rs. 70,000 in cash on Wednesday night. The police said that around 7 p.m., the two men whisked away N.S. Kannan in an autorickshaw while he was walking near Shanthala Silk House circle in Cottonpet police station limits. They threatened Mr. Kannan, a resident of Chamarajpet, with a knife and robbed him of cash. Later, they left him on Race Course Road and sped away, the police said.
Chain snatched
Two men, who were riding a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 60,000 from Prema Kumari in Vidyaranyapura police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said the incident occurred around 8 p.m. while Ms. Kumari was walking in Canara Bank Layout. The Vidyaranyapura police have registered a case.
House burgled
Burglars struck at Harikrishna Rao Pawar's house in Banaswadi Police Station limits on Wednesday and made away with Rs. 50,000 in cash and gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 2 lakh. The police said the thieves had entered Pawar's house in HRBR Layout by cutting the window grills. The theft took place between 1.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. when the Pawars were away from the house. The Banaswadi police have registered a case.
Car stolen
A high-end car was stolen from Jeevanbimanagar police station limits on Wednesday night. The police said the thieves had made away with the car, belonging to a private sugar company that was parked in front of the company employee Venkat Reddy's house on 12th Main, 2nd Stage, HAL.
Recovered
The Basavanagudi police have arrested three persons on charges of theft and recovered from them copper cables estimated at Rs. 45,000. The three were identified as Ramesh Naidu (21) and his brother, Naresh Naidu (19), and Santosh (18),the police said.
