Thiruvananthapuram: The city police have arrested seven persons in connection with the murder of the employee of a bar hotel at Eenchakkal on October 19 night. The police identified the accused as Prasanna Kumar, 30; Krishnakumar, 28; Balu, 24; Santosh, 27; Sreekumar, 33; Ratheesh, 25; and Santosh, 28. The police case is that the accused had attacked the bar and hacked to death an employee, Jayan. Another staffer, Anu M. Jacob, was seriously injured in the incident. The attack was sequel to a fight between the hotel staff and some of the accused the same day morning. They were produced before the court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
Counterfeit currency
The Thampanoor police have arrested three persons in connection with the seizure of counterfeit currency notes. Sub-Inspector Sheen Tharayil identified the accused as Preman, 44; Ravindranath, 46; and Mohanan Nair, 48. Nearly 1,000 fake Rs.100 denomination currency notes were seized. The police also confiscated computers and colour photocopying machine used for making the fake notes. The accused were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
