WINNERS ALL: Members of the Loyola School team with vice-principal Fr. Joseph Edassery.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The team from Loyola School, Thiruvananthapuram, has emerged champions in the first National Aerospace Olympiad held at Chandigarh from October 26 to 28 under the auspices of the Aeronautical Society of India. According to a press note issued at Thiruvananthapuram, Kishore Govind Nayar, P. Sriram, Ashique Siyad, V. Hari Sanker, Mishel Johns and Avinesh Vasudevan - members of the winning team - would get an opportunity to visit a centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation. The final phase of the competitions comprised a presentation on the project submitted, a space quiz, intelligence quiz, awareness quiz, painting/sketching and cultural competitions. The theme for the project report was `Putting a satellite in moon's orbit: present and future propulsion systems.' Fourteen schools from across the country participated in the final round of the Olympiad. These schools were selected on the basis of a presentation held on the topic `Aryabhatt to Chandrayaan-1: India's space journey.'
In the Thiruvananthapuram round, twenty-four schools had competed for a chance to take part in the final phase of the National Olympiad.
