GULBARGA: Gulbarga University has constituted a three-member committee of experts in education to prepare a roadmap for the development of the university. Disclosing this at the Academic Council meeting on Friday, Vice-Chancellor B.G. Mulimani said the committee headed by educationist Anantkrishnan would hold at least three sittings in Gulbarga before finalising its report. Other members of the committee were former Secretary of the University Grants Commission (UGC) G.D. Sharma and former Vice-Chancellor and member of UGC M.I. Savadatti. He said the committee was holding its sitting here, and on Thursday, it interacted with industrialists and representatives of the chamber of commerce and industry to ascertain their requirement of manpower. The committee would interact with media representatives, principals of various colleges, and educationists. Prof. Mulimani and Registrar S. Rajanna said the roadmap for the university had become inevitable in view of globalisation. Based on the recommendations of the committee, the university would reframe its courses to suit the manpower requirement of industries, he said. Presiding over the council meeting, Prof. Mulimani said the demand for a postgraduate Department in Journalism and Mass Communication would be fulfilled. It would function from the 2007-08 academic year.
