TIME FOR ACTION: Syed Pasha Qadri, MLA, and HUDA Vice-Chairman Jayesh Ranjan inspecting Khurshid Palace at Shah Gunj on Friday.
HYDERABAD: The baradari of Khurshid Jah at Shah Gunj, a heritage structure belonging to Paigah family, will be restored soon. The structure, acquired by Quli Qutb Shah Development Authority, used to house Hussaini Alam Junior College for girls. But the college was shifted after the structure became decrepit with lack of repair. Though in a state of neglect, one gets a glimpse of the architectural elegance of the 150-year-old heritage structure designed by Nawab Fakhruddin Khan, grandfather of Sir Khurshid Jah. HUDA Chairman D. Sudheer Reddy and Vice-Chairman Jayesh Ranjan who visited the structure along with Charminar MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Qadri on Friday said that HUDA would allot Rs.1 crore for restoration and conservation work to be carried out with the approval of the Heritage Conservation Committee. Except giving a chemical wash, nothing much had been done to restore the structure, Mr. Pasha said. The HUDA authorities suggested that after renovation, the palace could be used as a library-cum-auditorium for educational institutions functioning within the vicinity.
