Students enrolled in FoP movement

Training in community policing conducted in Pudukottai

PUDUKOTTAI:
The Pudukottai police have accorded a thrust to community policing by reaching out to various colleges in the district and enrolling students as members of Friends of Police (FoP).
Fifty-five students, among 154 youths, underwent `FoP multimedia training' along with 211 police personnel at Aranthangi, Annavasal and Pudukottai in the last few days. "We are confident that our enrolment with FoP will help us bolster personality development," said K. Vinothkumar (17), a student of Venkateswara Polytechnic.
Distributing certificates to the police personnel and FoPs at the valediction of the training programme here on Friday, the Superintendent of Police, Kapil C. Saratkar, asked the students to motivate their peers to follow suit. . He urged police officials in the district to emulate the example set by the Keeranur police station, where an Inspector, N. Balraj, had been providing uniforms to the FoP.
