State signs pact with IBM to train teachers

HYDERABAD: The State Government here on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding with IBM India Limited to impart training in soft skills to 400 teachers selected from 20 schools.

These teachers, in turn, are expected to transmit the skills to students later. Their training will last for two years.

The MoU was signed by N. Nageswara Rao, additional State Project Director, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, and G. Seetharam, vice-president, IBM India Limited, in the presence of School Education Minister N. Rajyalakshmi and Staley Littow, vice-president, IBM International.

Sharing expenses

Under the agreement, IBM and the Government will invest Rs. 2.5 crores each on the training "in software, hardware, training and research". Mr Littow said the school students should be endowed with soft skills to tap the full potential of the information technology.
