The Overseas Development Agency-sponsored project will be launched soon at selected places in both the States for which a survey by the JBIC team is under way in Orissa. The team members are visiting Ratnagiri, Udayagiri, Khandagiri, Konark and Dhoulagiri in Orissa. The team landed in Bhubaneswar on Saturday and, after completing its tour there, it would visit Amaravathi in Guntur district, which had been chosen for the project in Andhra Pradesh. The team members would visit Nagarjuna Konda also during its two-day trip, Archaeological Survey of India Superintending Archaeologist D. Jithender Das told The Hindu . The special project proposes to protect the natural status of all monuments that have worldwide recognition as one of the root centres for growth of Buddhism.
