Interest rate for SHGs

They can graduate to micro enterprise level to increase their earnings

HYDERABAD: The Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, C. Rangarajan, on Saturday opposed the proposals to lower interest rate on credit to self help groups (SHGs) as it will defeat the whole purpose of the constitution of these groups. Speaking at the Bancon-2006, he said there was scope for helping SHGs in terms of improving their technological skills and marketing facilities, but it should not necessarily through lowering interest rates.
