Prachanda likely to visit Delhi

Kathmandu: Nepal's Maoist chief Prachanda is likely to visit India to participate in an international meet on November 18 and 19.

Mr. Prachanda will be accompanied by his deputy, Baburam Bhattarai, when he visits New Delhi to attend the `India — the next global power' summit this month, Maoist sources said here.

Mr. Prachanda had earlier declined the invitation to attend the meet saying that he would not visit India unless it released two senior Maoist leaders languishing in Indian jails, rebel sources said.

Mr. Prachanda recently met Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shanker Mukherjee and discussed among other things the issue of release of leaders Mohan Vaidya and C.P. Gajurel and other cadre.

The Indian envoy reportedly responded positively to Mr. Prachanda's concerns.
