MUMBAI: Indian cricket honoured seven heroes for a lifetime of achievement, at a function organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Saturday night. Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Bhausaheb Nimbalkar, Chandu Borde, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar, Srinivas Venkatraghavan, Bishan Singh Bedi and Erapalli Prasanna were presented with presented with the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement awards and Rs. 5 lakhs each at a gathering of cricketing elite at the Wankhede stadium.
Captains honoured
BCCI, inaugurating its new office building, also felicitated 16 Indian Test captains and eight Board presidents. Mohammed Azharuddin was among the skippers called on stage, signifying a symbolic return to Indian cricket family. Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar were current internationals among captains on the honours list. Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev, Polly Umrigar, D.K. Gaekwad were ex-India leaders not present in person on the occasion. The awards nite was compered by former India skipper Ravi Shastri. ICC president Percy Sonn, CCI president Sharad Pawar and BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty addressed the gathering.
