LIVELIHOOD ISSUE: CPI workers and residents holding a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office in Gulbarga on Saturday.
GULBARGA: Workers of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Saturday took out a procession along with residents of many localities in the city to the Deputy Commissioner's office from the Jagat Circle demanding distribution of Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards to poor people.
Memorandum
The procession was led by its district secretary Shoukat Ali Alur. In a memorandum to the district authorities, the CPI said that till the anomalies in the supply of the new ration cards were set right, poor families should be allowed to purchase foodgrains with their earlier BPL cards.
