GULBARGA: Former Labour Minister and senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader S.K. Kanta has alleged that Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey, who is also the Chairman of the Super Market Committee, has allotted two plots in the Super Market area to an individual without bringing it to the knowledge of the authority concerned. At a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Kanta said that by doing so, the official had violated the Government Order issued in 1964 which clearly stated that all plots in the Super Market area should be auctioned and no allotment or leasing of lands should be done.
`Undervalued'
Mr. Kanta said the person who had purchased the plots had begun sale of shops proposed to be constructed there. This was being done without getting approval for building plans. He alleged that the plots were sold to the individual at the market rate fixed by the office of the Registrar, which had undervalued them. The prices fixed for plots in Super Market area in 2004 was much lower than what was fixed in 1999, Mr. Kanta said. As per the booklet being distributed by the person who had purchased these plots and the Mumbai-based M.G. Builders, which is constructing the commercial complex on the two plots, the commercial complex will have a cellar, ground floor and three floors. The Super Market Authority and the State Government had stated that no cellar should be constructed and the building should be limited to ground floor and two more floors. Mr. Kanta said the Government should immediately cancel the allotment and take criminal action against the person who had purchased the plots and the builder for "illegally selling" shops proposed to be constructed without getting permission from the authorities concerned.
