ERODE: With inflow into the Lower Bhavani Project reservoir steadily increasing, Revenue and Public Works Department officials are geared up to tackle any crisis due to floods on the Bhavani river bank. The level of the LBP reservoir touched 103.20 feet as against the full level of 105 feet on Saturday afternoon. The inflow was 7,362 cusecs. As against the full storage capacity of 32 tmcft, the storage had reached 30 tmcft. Officials were expecting an increase in inflow with the catchments receiving heavy rain. Revenue officials directed people on both banks of the Bhavani to move to safer places. They will discharge heavy quantities of water if the LBP dam level increases by another feet. Sathyamangalam recorded 47 mm rain on Friday night, Kangeyam 26.4 mm, Dharapuram 15.4 mm, Gobichettipalayam 9 mm, Bhavanisagar 8 mm. Perundurai, Arachalure, Kavindapady and Chitode also received heavy rain on Friday night.
