Pension scheme for sportspersons

Coimbatore: To develop sports and to encourage sportspersons, the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) has come forward to provide financial assistance under the pension scheme to outstanding sportspersons living in indigent circumstances.

Deserving sportspersons from Tamil Nadu who have won laurels at the State level, State championships and National games can send in their applications to the district sports officers of their respective regions on or before November 30.

Applicants who are 58 years of age (April 1, 2006) and drawing a salary less than Rs. 2000 are eligible for the aid.

Badminton tournament

The Rotary Post centenary year inter clubs doubles badminton tournament organised by Rotary Coimbatore Manchester - dist 3200 will be held at the Cosmopolitan Club courts here from November 17 to 19.

Table tennis tournament

An open district level table tennis tournament for all age groups organised by Stream Communications will be held at the Muthu Engineering Complex on NSR Road on November 18 and 19.
