Relief: Naidu for more funds

Staff Reporter

Visits flood-hit villages in Krishna district

VIJAYAWADA: Cyclone victims and farmers affected by the recent rain poured out their woes before Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu during his whirlwind visit to the flood-hit villages in Krishna district on Saturday.

Mr. Naidu sought more funds to provide immediate relief to the poor families and also increase compensation to the farmers for crop loss.

Accusing the administration of not taking enough steps to mitigate the people's hardship, he said the Government gave just Rs. 25,000 for rescue operations in Pedaparupudi mandal forcing the MRO and sarpanch to take private loans to meet the people's needs. He said that rice did not reach many people and even the fortunate ones just got five to 10 kg as against the administration's claim of 20 kg.

Mr. Naidu visited Vanukuru, Manikonda, Ventrapragada, Moparru, Gudivada, Dosapadu, Pedasanugalla and Gudlavalleru villages.
