THRISSUR: Over 70 high school students selected from ten different panchayats will participate in the district-level Kudumbasree children's parliament to be held here on November 6. This was announced at a press conference here on Saturday by the five children selected as the leaders-in-charge of organising the parliament. The children P. Reshma and Nikitha Das of Velur, Soumya Krishnan of Edavilangu, Jithu Krishnan of Madakkathra and Akitha of Kuzhur said `Balasabhas' formed in various panchayats through the neighbourhood groups of Kudumbasree form the core constituents of the children's parliament. The participants for the children's parliament are selected from the panchayat-level `Balasabhas.' Balasabhas are active in ten panchayats in the district while they are in the formative stage in nearly 83 panchayats. Out of the 70 participants at the district-level, ten will be selected to participate in the State level children's parliament to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on November 14. Replying to questions they said the children's parliament has helped them to focus on the various problems of children.
