KOZHIKODE: The Special Court conducting trial into the Marad massacre case has posted for November 8 the case for orders. This was after hearing a petition seeking the Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) to conduct further investigation into the involvement of former Kozhikode district collector T.O. Sooraj in `deliberately neglecting and omitting to communicate the intelligence report he had received' to the authorities concerned. Special Additional Sessions Judge Babu Mathew P. Joseph also posted for November 8 for orders a petition filed by Non-Resident Indian businessman, Hilal Mohammed alias V.B. Mohammed Kutty seeking a directive to the CB-CID to conduct further investigation regarding his alleged involvement in `physically funding' the carnage. The petition seeking CB-CID probe into involvement of Mr. Sooraj was filed by Edapparuthy Muraleedharan of Tirurangadi in Malappuram district. Interestingly both the petitions were filed through one lawyer. The Kozhikode CB-CID had already investigated the case relating to the murder of nine persons on Marad beach here on May 2, 2003.
