MYSORE: Grievance boxes will be installed in all village panchayat offices across the State from December 1, Principal Secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, R. Suresh has said.

He was talking to presspersons here on Saturday after chairing the food security and public grievances meet.

Similar boxes would be kept in the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner and also at all the "mohalla" offices of city corporations. Such a system was already in place and working satisfactorily in all the village panchayats of Tumkur district, he added.

Mr. Suresh said that the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts had been directed to visit two "hoblis" in a month and interact with the public to address their grievances.

When his attention was drawn towards the "artificial scarcity" of LPG cylinders caused by dealers, he directed officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department to immediately cancel the licences of those who indulge in hoarding and blackmarketing.

Mr. Suresh said the Airports Authority of India had been given 154 acres of land for the Mysore airport, and that the issue of handing over another 20 acres was pending in the court. The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Authority would be acquiring 94 acres of land for the project, he added.

Mr. Suresh said that all the seven taluks in Mysore district had been declared "drought-hit." Each would be receiving Rs. 1 crore for relief works. Superintendent of Police S. Murugan, Mysore City Corporation Commissioner K.N. Chandrashekar and other senior officials of the district administration were present at the meeting. Two applications were submitted at the grievances meet.
