Mohammed panel finds `improper' admissions

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The Admission Supervisory Committee, headed by the former judge P.A. Mohammed, found that admissions granted to 35 students in the management quota in Karuna Medical College, Palakkad, was "improper."

At its sitting here on Saturday, the committee issued a show-cause notice to the management asking it to explain why the admissions should not be cancelled. The direction was given on a complaint filed by N. K. Afsal of Thalassery, who was allegedly denied admission in the management quota.

The commission found that even the advertisement inviting applications from candidates did not specify the eligibility criteria for admission. The management contended that the admission was denied as Afsal failed to produce the Common Entrance Test data sheet and admit card. The commission accepted the contention of the candidate that the application form failed to specify that data sheet and admit card should be produced.
